Manager Bob Melvin announced Friday, Petit will be heading to Venezuela with his family after the death of his father earlier this week, however, Petit has not left as of yet due to travel complications. Melvin said Petit could be back as soon as this weekend but his absence could last into next week as well. The cause of death for his father is unknown. Petit also lost his mother in August 2018, at the age of 62, after a long battle with an undisclosed illness....

Siegal, 40, will work with A’s minor leaguers from Oct. 4-17 in Arizona, the team announced. A’s assistant general manager David Forst told the San Francisco Chronicle that Siegal will work with infielders, hit fungos and throw batting practice, among other responsibilities. The Ghanaian spent four weeks on the sidelines after straining a muscle while attempting a shot in a league fixture with Bournemouth on November 4.
